West Coast

With one of the ‘top 10 coastal drives in the world’ Westport to Greymouth, one of the ‘top six train journeys in the world’ the TranzAlpine train, and two of the most accessible glaciers in the world, Franz Josef and Fox Glaciers, the West Coast of New Zealand’s South Island is world class and renowned for its spectacular scenery and early settler heritage.

The Coast, preserved in all or part of five National Parks, is a long 600 kilometre, narrow strip bound on the east by giant, imposing mountain ranges and by a wild, rugged coastline on the west.

The West Coast of the Southern Alps is a truly different part of the country which offers lasting memories of good times and world class scenery and activities.
